Stocks

A stock is a security that represents ownership in a corporation. Through Vantagepoint Elite, you can invest in listed and over-the-counter stocks.

Bonds

A bond can be a government, municipal, or corporate security that is basically an IOU and, unlike stocks, does not have any ownership rights. Whoever issues the bond promises to repay the bondholder’s principal at maturity and any stated interest. Vantagepoint Elite allows for you to invest in a wide variety of these debt instruments including Treasury Bonds, Municipal Bonds, Corporate Bonds, and Zero Coupon Bonds (Zero Coupon Bonds are sold at a “discounted” rate to their principal face amount and do not pay interest).

Mutual Funds

A mutual fund is a portfolio of diversified investments which are professionally managed. Shareholders own shares of the total pool of securities. Investors make money through appreciation of the fund’s price and reinvestment of the fund’s distributions. Through Vantagepoint Elite, you may invest in ICMA-RC’s Vantagepoint Funds. You will also have access to more then 5,000 mutual funds from over 350 widely known fund companies companies.

ICMA-RC partners with UVEST Financial Services, Inc., a registered broker-dealer and member of FINRA / SIPC , to offer a brokerage program. All securities and brokerage programs are offered through UVEST. UVEST compensates ICMA-RC for making the program available to participants. Compensation is paid directly by UVEST to ICMA-RC.
