Jean E. Hamilton has served as the AFSCME representative on the BART Investment Plans Committee since April 2005. After joining the Transit System Development Division in 1995 Jean's responsibilities have included handling all financial aspects of the Automatic Fare Collection Capital Group (approximately $150 Million in funded projects), as well as administrative duties related to the Oakland Airport Connector Project. Jean has been a member of the AFSCME executive board since October 2004.

Before working for the District Jean was an elementary and secondary school teacher, a cost engineer and scheduler for several international engineering and construction firms, and an economic analyst as well as maintenance supervisor at a local Bay Area refinery. During her six years at the refinery Jean was also a volunteer firefighter, a member of the hazmat response team, and second in command of the emergency oil spill response team. Jean is a graduate of the University of California at Davis, with post-graduate certifications from California State University at Hayward.
